Introduction to ICCE-China 2014
The IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics China 2014 (ICCE-C 2014) is a flagship event organized by the IEEE Consumer Electronics Society to provide a platform in China for experts of technologies, circuits, electronic products to exchange their ideas on the most updated applications or implementations. In the Digital 21 arena in 2014, Internet of Things (IoT) is definitely one of the most interesting areas that most technologies and applications, from wired to wireless systems. The ICCE-C 2014 focuses on the applications and technologies of IoT related to aspects of Smart Grid, Intelligent Medical Services, Home Automation, Intelligent Transportation and Radio Frequency Identification. By prompting outstanding and altest research findings, the conference bombards innovative and novel ideas through discussions of IoT topics. The topics covered are:
1. Smart Grid and IoT
With the increasing awareness of energy saving, applications of Smart Grid and IoT will benefit such areas. Energy management and distribution upon IoT will be a milestone of smart energy users.
2. Intelligent medical services and IoT
Health issue is related to the general public, and data handling or medical care are such aspects. By incorporating ZigBee, bluetooth or WiFi, a more effective health monitoring in placewill tremendously reduce the loadings of hospitals or patients.
3. Home automation and IoT
Thanks to smart control of multiple sensors through IoT, home automation systems are expected to be deployed in our daily lives. Home appliances can be remotely controlled via smart sensors or devices from anywhere.
4. Intelligent transportation and IoT
Mass transportation is a fundamental infrastructure for developed countries. The intelligent management of huge transportation systems becomes an important issue. IoT aims at providing better connections or solutions to the train utilities.
5. Radio frequency identification (RFID) and IoT
Tracking and automatic identification have been a popular application in many areas. Information of objects will be stored into tags which can be distributed or shared to one another easily through IoT, resulting in manpower or time savings.
I am confident that the useful hot topics to be discussed in ICCE-C 2014 will bring forth a successful exchange of ideas. The fruitful results will bring about successful ventures, nurture professionals and students, and generate revenue !
